Thanksgiving CA Visit!

Spousal Unit and I went to CA to visit my family for the Thanksgiving holiday this year and we happily took over making Thanksgiving dinner since my mom and Tara weren't going to be able to cook due to working all day. Kyle was able to help us find things since they still hadn't had a chance to unpack from moving to a new apartment and new city.


I think our turkey turned out beautifully and it was stuffed with root vegetables and garlic, so the whole place smelled absolutely amazing.

That weekend there was an SCA tourney, so I happened to have packed our garb, so we went with my family to watch my old household fight and to shop the stalls there. I found a bunch of trims that would look great for BJD products.

We visited Knott's Berry Farm with Kyle and Tara while Mom was working. She joined us later.

I love carolers, so it was nice to just watch the official ones perform.


Mom wanted a family photo of us all, so we went in to the western photography studio and got all dressed up. We're a dangerous group, oh yes!

I did something crazy today. I blame one of my favorite webcomics for it, actually, specifically, this page of it: The webcomic is Manly Guys Doing Manly Things and is one of the funniest comics I've ever read. Facial Cyst--OW

It started small. I thought I was just getting a deeper pimple on my cheek just off my nose, and did my usual skincare routine. But then, this past week, it proved to be something different. I woke up to get ready to go to work. My face hurt and felt extremely hot, so I went to the bathroom and discovered what was really happening. (I apologize: none of the pictures are going to be flattering or pretty, but nothing graphic, don't worry.) My face had swollen up on that side and with the amount of pain I was in, I knew this had to be a cyst, not a simple zit. I called out sick and then went to work finding a local dermatologist ASAP. A few hours later I took another picture before heading in to my appointment. It had gotten worse, puffing up under my eye and everything. I was so grateful to be seen that very day.
