Letter P: Period

Frank talk here, and mostly a complaint. I am currently on my period, so it makes me irritable (if we're lucky, it's only irritable). I hate periods. I understand the biological necessity but why are pads/tampons so freaking expensive?! They are classified as luxury items when you kinda need them for basic health?! My insides are tearing themselves apart, I'm pissy because of the increase in testorone, and cramps have reduced me to curling up horizontally on the nearest available surface. My experiences with my period are completely typical. This has been more of a rant, but I don't regret any of it. Periods. Suck.

Letter L: Lactose Intolerance!

Those of you who have been following my blog for a long time will know that I have had some stomach issues for a couple years. We thought I might have to have my gall bladder removed and I went in for an ultrasound to see if there was anything. The ultrasound determined nothing was visible, so it didn't narrow things down. I tried a medication to slow down my digestive system, because we thought it might be my system rushing through food too fast. And then one morning, a couple months ago, I had a large bowl of cereal, first I'd had in a few weeks. I ate nothing else for an hour or so. Within a half hour, I rushed to the bathroom with those same symptoms and stayed there for quite awhile. I mentioned my sudden symptom onslaught to the Spousal Unit and Rosslyn. She hadn't me her lactaid pills and suggested I try it out and see if that made any difference. I mentioned my experiment to my doctor, who agreed it had a good chance at solving my problem, and it not, time for ...

Christmas 2014 Was... Interesting...

Spousal Unit and I traveled down to California to visit my family this past Christmas for a week of vacation. We were excited to see them and had presents--everything was set up just fine! We got to attend the family Christmas Eve party at my aunt's house and the Spousal Unit got to meet my cousins' children. Passing out the presents! My mom and grandma getting blurry shots--they were on their feet a lot during the party. But, Spousal Unit held still for me, though! And then he stole the camera! So hi, that's me! Now, Christmas day was lovely and had no photos--we had breakfast at our family friends' home, did a white elephant gift exchange there, and then came home and opened all of our presents (we did it late because my sister had to work the morning). My sister's boyfriend joined us for this and I enjoyed getting to know him better. After that, we all went to my aunt's home (other side of the family) and had Christm...

January

So I've skipped a lot of blogs lately, but much of what has happened to me wasn't worth it's own post. During and after Christmas, I had a terrible flu which I passed on to my husband. Our New Year's was extremely chill as a result. We had a couple friends over, had Martinelli's, played games, and watched Mythbusters to welcome in the new year. I don't even remember what we ate. A couple weeks later, we had our Twelfth Night party, which celebrates the Twelve Days of Christmas. It's always January 6th, but we ended up postponing it a week due to scheduling issues and my sickness. Twelfth Night was loads of fun. We played more games and caught up with each other. I made aebleskivers, hot apple cider, pork loin with apples, and Camilla made a delicious chicken and veggie pie. Rosslyn grilled cabbage in butter and spices and just overall, we ate way too well that night. No one went home hungry. During this, my husband also got sick again (or some more, not ...

Sick

So, after getting the news of my job being phased out, I get hit with a massive cold. I did miss work, but it was either that or infect the office and feel worse all the time. I managed to only attend one class out of four, but all my work was completed on time. I feel much better today, though. The owners of my job have begun to waffle back and forth on phasing out my position. Now, I would love not to go anywhere. But I don't like limbo. I've already applied to multiple places. I haven't heard back, but that's ok. I've been sick. I'm not exactly looking and feeling my best for potential interviews. I also wish I had more time to craft, specifically sew. I want to make myself some clothes and other things but there's little point in me trying when I don't have the time to complete anything. I have a lot of fabric and I want to get rid of it and have more wearable clothing in a style I like.

Being sick is never fun. Especially when you got the day off over a month ago to go be with your family on your parents' 25th Anniversary. So instead of visiting, I get to lie in bed feeling gross and stuffed up, with a cotton head and a fever. I have been playing with my dolls a bit more though, so I thought I'd share some pictures of my Puki (PukiPuki Mary, to be specific). She's in a new dress and wig now, though the "right" wig for her is still yet to be found. Her name is Briar and the name fits her personality. I hope you like her; she's very cute. She has a bit of a Wednesday Addams complex at times, but the new dress seems to have calmed her. I can only hope that a proper wig will do the same. Khorae, my Iplehouse Silvia BJD, is one I don't have many pictures of, and those that I do have the wrong eyes and things. She's a manifestation of a character I've had in my head for a very long time; perhaps 5 or 6 years now. Enough that she's b...
