In His Steps

I went to Harvest War again! I went with Rosslyn, Spousal Unit, and our friend El. We hung out and wandered about, attended classes and made friends! Egyptian is apparently a thing in the SCA! El was ecstatic to hear that. Check out this Hittite armor! We went to court and it was nice to see. Spousal Unit thought he would be funny. El. And I got a new sideless surcoat! And I ended the day kicking everyone's trash playing Vomiting Monk, a period game like Uno.

Spousal Unit and I went to Great Western War this year, camping with The Company of St. Martin again, our good friends. You can see our restored tent on the right of the picture below. Somehow the first sunset of every war is always beautiful and perfect over the lake. We discovered that the geese that had plagued us every year--Christmas and Thanksgiving--had passed on due to coyotes and had ourselves a good cheer. These geese would enter our camps and tents, steal food, and generally be ill-tempered beasts. They aren't missed by me. The second evening we were there is when most people were at the encampment and almost completely set up. We spent the first days attending classes, wandering Merchant's Row, and volunteering to help the staff. Spousal Unit and I worked the troll at the front gate for a few hours one afternoon. I day tripped to a local war recently and it felt good to be back in the swing of things. The location had some amazing points. Enjoy the locale's view! It's a large amphitheatre built to look like a castle. There were many skirmishes along the winding stone path. It made for a good battle scenario.
