Sickness and Germ Trades

So part of why these blogs are several months late is something that seems to be very common among the newly married. You just get sick. Then your spouse gets sick. then you get sick again. Then you both get sick at the same time. And then you begin to trade back and forth at missing work, sleeping all day, wondering when your brain will ever work again, what health feels like...

This goes on for three or more months. You have been warned. We are currently not sick. For now.

I'm glad my husband and I were not the only ones that did that. It was miserable.

It happened to all of my husband's married siblings, too. I just felt not enough was said to young couples preparing to marry ahead of time, so I put the warning out there.

I did something crazy today. I blame one of my favorite webcomics for it, actually, specifically, this page of it: The webcomic is Manly Guys Doing Manly Things and is one of the funniest comics I've ever read. Facial Cyst--OW

It started small. I thought I was just getting a deeper pimple on my cheek just off my nose, and did my usual skincare routine. But then, this past week, it proved to be something different. I woke up to get ready to go to work. My face hurt and felt extremely hot, so I went to the bathroom and discovered what was really happening. (I apologize: none of the pictures are going to be flattering or pretty, but nothing graphic, don't worry.) My face had swollen up on that side and with the amount of pain I was in, I knew this had to be a cyst, not a simple zit. I called out sick and then went to work finding a local dermatologist ASAP. A few hours later I took another picture before heading in to my appointment. It had gotten worse, puffing up under my eye and everything. I was so grateful to be seen that very day.
